The Problem With Factory Glass on the CFMOTO U10
Your CFMOTO UForce U10 windshield is doing you dirty. It lets in direct sun, it builds up heat in the cab, and by mid-afternoon on a summer ride you're squinting into glare. The fix is simpler than you think — a pre-cut full windshield tint kit, applied in about 45 minutes at home. This guide walks you through the install from start to finish.
What You'll Need
Before you start, gather your supplies. You'll need: the pre-cut CFMOTO U10 windshield tint kit, a heat gun (not a hair dryer — a real heat gun), a squeegee or hard card, a spray bottle with soapy water (a few drops of dish soap per liter), a lint-free microfiber cloth, and a gasket tool or plastic pry tool if you plan to tuck edges under the windshield seal. The CFMOTO U10 windshield has a noticeable curve, so the heat gun is non-negotiable — it's what lets you shrink the film to conform to the glass without bubbles.
Step 1: Clean the Windshield Thoroughly
This is the most important step and the one most people rush. Any dust, dirt, or residue under the film will show as a bump or bubble that you can't fix after the film is applied. Start by washing the windshield with soap and water, then follow up with an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) wipe-down. Pay extra attention to the edges and any seams. Let it dry completely before moving to the next step.
Step 2: Wet the Windshield
Spray a generous layer of your soapy water solution onto the windshield. This is what gives you the slip to position the film before it sets. Don't be shy with it — a wet surface is a forgiving surface. The film won't stick to the glass as long as it stays wet, so if you need to reposition, just re-spray.
Step 3: Peel and Place the Film
Your kit comes with a pre-cut piece sized for the CFMOTO U10 windshield. Peel the liner back slowly — spray the adhesive side with soapy water as you go to prevent it from sticking to itself. Place the film on the wet windshield with the adhesive side down. Slide it into position — you should have a few millimeters of overlap on each edge. The film moves freely on the wet glass, so take your time to center it.
Step 4: Squeegee Out the Water
Starting from the center, use your squeegee or hard card to push water toward the edges. Work in overlapping strokes. You want to remove as much water as possible from under the film before you apply heat. Don't press so hard that you crease the film — firm, even pressure is what you're going for.
Step 5: Use the Heat Gun to Shrink the Edges
This is where the CFMOTO U10 windshield install differs from a flat window. The curved glass means the film has to shrink slightly to conform to the curve without wrinkles. Hold the heat gun 6-8 inches from the glass and move it in slow, sweeping passes over any areas where the film is lifting or showing wrinkles — usually near the top corners. As the film heats up, use your squeegee to push it flat. Work in small sections. Don't hold the heat gun in one spot — keep it moving.
Step 6: Trim and Tuck the Edges
Once the film is flat and conforming to the glass, trim any excess at the edges with a sharp razor blade or utility knife. If your windshield has a rubber gasket or seal around the edge, you can tuck the film under it for a cleaner, more finished look. A gasket tool or plastic pry tool helps here — slide it along the seal and push the edge of the film underneath as you go.
Step 7: Final Squeegee and Dry Time
Do a final pass with the squeegee to remove any remaining water pockets. The film will look slightly hazy or have small bubbles immediately after install — this is normal. It's residual water working its way out. Give it 24-48 hours of cure time before judging the final result. Don't wash the windshield during this period.
Install Difficulty: 5/10
The CFMOTO U10 windshield install is moderately difficult due to the curved glass — but it's very doable at home. The heat gun is what makes it manageable. If this is your first tint install, practice on a side window first. The side windows are much easier (3/10) and will give you a feel for the squeegee technique before you tackle the windshield.
Film Options for the CFMOTO U10 Windshield
All windshield kits from UTVwindowtint.com use Geoshield professional-grade film. For a windshield, we generally recommend 35% or 50% shade — dark enough to cut glare, light enough to maintain full visibility in all conditions. Carbon film is the most affordable and performs well in moderate climates. Ceramic is the upgrade if you ride in serious heat — 80-83% heat rejection makes a real difference when the sun is hitting your windshield directly. APEX Ceramic takes it to 94.5-96% and is the best option for maximum cab comfort.
